Liverpool and Manchester City suffered on Saturday during the 11th day of the Premier League but eventually won (2-1) at Aston Villa for the Reds and against Southampton for their dolphin.

The gap between the two teams that will compete in eight days in Anfield remains 6 points in favor of Jürgen Klopp's men.

- Liverpool in extremis:

Definitely, Liverpool likes to be scared.

"It's the best feeling possible," Klopp boasted after the match, "it's really satisfying, especially since the winning goal comes from a combination of training."

We knew Aston Villa capable of good debut of matches against the big and it was confirmed, the uninhibited Villans taking the advantage in the 21st minute thanks to the Egyptian Trezeguet.

But unlike their bad habit, they did not collapse in the second half and nearly inflicted their first defeat of the season in the league in Liverpool.

But for lack of total control - even if they had 73% of possession and shot 25 times in goal -, the Reds have a huge heart and Andrew Robertson (87th) and Sadio Mané in overtime (90 + 4) have broken the dream of the Birmingham club.

- Manchester City struggles but wins:

The scenario was practically the same for City who received however relegable Southampton they had easily beaten 3-1 Tuesday in Coupe de la Ligue and who remained on a 9-0 cash against Leicester at home in the league.

Pep Guardiola's men were surprised in the 13th minute by James Ward-Prowse who exploited a hand foul of their goalkeeper Ederson, before being ridiculously clumsy.

It was not until the 70th minute to see a shot from the blue sky, for their 19th attempt of the match (4 shots shot on 26 attempts in the end), but he hit the mark thanks to the ruthless realism of Sergio Agüero (9th achievement in the league in 10 shots on target).

Kyle Walker then tipped the game four minutes from the end.

"We were patient and the pace was high from the first minute, it was good and a big cheer to the team" launched after the match Guardiola, who would have enough to deplore once again that his players are not not more "surgical", one of his favorite antiphons in press conference.

- Chelsea received 5/5:

The Blues were a bit scared when they saw the red lantern come back 2-1 at 10 minutes from the end on a controversial penalty, but they won a fifth consecutive championship win in Watford.

Tammmy Abraham joined Jamie Vardy (Leicester) and Sergio Agüero at the top of the scoring charts with a 9th achievement while touching on a superb opening from Jorginho in the 5th minute, before delivering his second assist pass of the season to Christian Pulisic at the 55th, already author of a triplet the previous day.

With 23 points, and before Leicester (20) plays Sunday at Crystal Palace, Chelsea remains at 2 points from City and especially took 6 step ahead of Arsenal, 5th.

- Arsenal still can not do it:

Held 1-1 by the solid Wolverhampton, after leading through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's 50th goal in 78 games in their jersey, the Gunners again let slip points.

As so often this season, Arsenal fell asleep on his lean laurels and was eventually joined a quarter of an hour later.

With only one win for three draws and one loss in the last 5 days, the Gunners, 5th, do not advance and lose ground on the podium.

- Manchester United relapse:

Manchester United fell back in its wake during its logical 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth, which had not scored since the equivalent of four whole matches.

Defensive passivity on Joshua King's goal and lack of speed and inspiration led to a stoppage after three away Red Devils away in all competitions.

"We have to win games like this," coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pleaded, pointing to "a lack of quality at times" and admitting that "it's a regression for us today."
