November 02, 2019Nine children were killed by a mine explosion in north-eastern Afghanistan. A local official announced this. The explosion occurred in the district of Darqad in Takhar province, after the children trampled the mine, hidden on a road in a village controlled by the Taliban.

"At 8.30am (local time, 5am in Italy), nine children tragically died in the explosion of a mine placed by the Taliban," said spokesman for the governor of Takhar province, Jawad Hejri. The children, all males, were 7 to 11 years old, he added.
