US President Donald Trump was interviewed by phone on Thursday for LBC News by Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

Trump has previously expressed his support for a British exit from the EU. As late as August he promised Britain a comprehensive trade agreement with the United States. According to Trump, the deal would be the largest ever.

Critical to agreement

But in the interview with Farage, Trump was critical of the exit deal negotiated by Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson with the EU:

- We want to trade with the UK, and they want to trade with us. But he added:

- Frankly ... this agreement ... you can't do it, you can't trade. We cannot sign a trade agreement with the UK.

Trump did not explain why he considered Johnson's agreement with the EU to be bad. A spokesman for the British Prime Minister commented on Trump's statement:

- We can sign trade agreements worldwide that benefit all parts of the UK.

"Will lead you to ruin"

President Trump also warned the British to elect Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn as new prime minister at the December 12 election.

"The Corbyn would be very bad for the UK," Trump said, adding:

- He would lead you in the ruin, but your country has tremendous potential.

Labor leader Corbyn commented on Twitter:

"Trump is trying to influence the British election and get his friend Boris Johnson elected."

At the recent British election, Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes to gain a majority in Parliament for his exit agreement, while opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn promises a new referendum on Brexit if he becomes prime minister.
