Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladislav Krikliy said that Russia should pay “reparations”. The Kremlin said they consider this statement unsuccessful.
“We do not classify this statement as successful. Let’s not forget, after all, who started the war in the Donbass, where the Donbass is located. Russia, as a country that is not a party to this conflict, is an intra-Ukrainian conflict, Russia, at present ... is doing everything possible to help resolve this problem, ”said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president.
Earlier, Krikliy said that Ukraine does not intend to restore the uncontrolled regions of Donbass until Russia pays a “reparation”.
“So far we can talk about the restoration of the controlled part of the Donbass region. Regarding whether Ukrainians will pay for this, for uncontrolled territory, then, of course, no. This is a priori impossible. Let the aggressor country return the territories first, pay reparations, and then we will think how to restore the territory, ”the minister said on the air of the Ukrainian television channel“ 1 + 1 ”.
Recall that the "aggressor" of the Ukrainian authorities call Russia. Moreover, the Russian authorities have repeatedly reminded that Moscow is not a party to the conflict. Russia consists in the Norman process for the Ukrainian settlement, and also participated in the drafting of the Minsk agreements, the task of which is to put an end to the conflict in the Donbass.
Russia, on the contrary, seeks to help the internal Ukrainian settlement, the head of the committee on international affairs Konstantin Kosachev recalled.
“Everything that Russia could do to prevent an irreversible scenario, Russia did. And Ukraine should be grateful for this. And everything else, it's just from a bad mind to a healthy one. Unacceptable under any circumstances, ”he told RT.
“This statement is completely unacceptable. This is a deliberately false interpretation of events in the south-east of Ukraine. The direct responsibility for the fact that this crisis erupted lies with the organizers of the Maidan who committed an unconstitutional coup. This coup was not accepted by a significant part of the Ukrainian population. And the conflict has exclusively intra-Ukrainian sources, the intra-Ukrainian move and the subsequent intra-Ukrainian settlement, ”the senator emphasized.
The demands of “reparations” are at least unfounded, State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek noted in an interview with RT.
“I think that the Ukrainian minister mixed up the blessings of the state and someone’s political ambitions. Russia is not a party to the conflict and demanding any compensation from it is at least unreasonable, ”the parliamentarian said.

Answering the question whether Russia will assist in the restoration of the Donbass, Peskov noted that this depends on how and when the conflict will be settled.

Ukraine is obliged to restore the territory of Donbass from its own shelling, said political analyst Ivan Mezyuho.
“This is another inadequate statement by a member of the Ukrainian cabinet,” he said in an interview with RT. “If Kiev considers Donbass to be its territory, then it should restore this territory after its own shelling.”
According to Mezuho, in this way the Ukrainian minister tried to side with the nationalists opposing the Minsk agreements. At the same time, the political scientist noted the current conflict between President Vladimir Zelensky and the radicals.
“Of course, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine flirts with the radicals. His statement is largely consistent with the rhetoric of nationalist organizations in Ukraine that participate in protests. Then the question is obvious: on which side does the Minister of Infrastructure stand? ... This statement once again speaks of disorder and reeling in the ranks of the Ukrainian authorities, ”he told RT.
On October 30, Zelensky stated that reconciliation of the parties is necessary to restore peace in the country, and incorrect statements could ruin this process.
“It's like keeping matches by an open gas can. One reckless movement, one wrong statement can cross out everything and restore the hot stage of the conflict, ”he said.
In Ukraine, Krikliy’s statement was also mixed. So, the deputy of the Rada from the “Opposition Platform - For Life” Oleg Voloshin is convinced that this statement is enough for resignation.
“I think that in a normal country, after such a statement, the minister would simply resign, and if he didn’t want to leave, he would be dismissed by the parliament,” he told reporters.
“If the minister really spoke about the matter, that he’s ready to take off his last shirt to help the residents of this territory, because it’s our citizens, to restore a peaceful life, but naturally in this situation we also rely on European partners, if you don’t want to name the Russian Federation, let says the aggressor state - that would be an approach. And when a person talks about reparations, it means that he simply doesn’t want the Donbass to be part of Ukraine, ”Voloshin emphasized.
