“The activity of various Internet resources aimed at the sale of rare or exotic animals should be stopped, up to blocking resources of this kind,” RIA Novosti quoted Klishas as saying.

According to him, it is necessary to conduct a review of the introduction of legislation on the blocking of such Internet resources.

He added that in October 2019, the Criminal Code of Russia was amended to toughen liability for the illegal extraction and trafficking of especially valuable wild animals.

On October 14, a bill was introduced in the State Duma providing for the introduction of pre-trial blocking of sites that contain materials on cruelty to animals.
