Earlier this week, President José Mario Vaz dismissed the Prime Minister and his government ignoring the ECOWAS road map. A road map that charges Prime Minister Aristides Gomes conduct current affairs until the presidential scheduled on 24 November. But since Tuesday evening, President Vaz is conducting consultations to form a new government. And that is against the opinion of the international community.

The African Union invites political actors to "give priority to dialogue and consultation ". Moussa Faki Mahamat, the president of the commission of the African Union asks the political class Guinea-Bissau, to respect the road map of the ECOWAS, in particular the maintenance of Aristides Gomes in his functions.

The same message of firmness expressed by the European Union, denouncing an " illegal attempt to dismiss the Prime Minister and his government ."

The EU recalls that the government of Aristides Gomes was recently approved by the parliamentary majority: this government, underlines the EU, " is the unique and legitimate executive power in Guinea-Bissau ".

The reactions are unanimous. The CPLP, the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, have also expressed their concerns following the government's dismissal.

As for ECOWAS, it will send its mediation mission on Saturday, to ensure the application of its roadmap.

Finally, note that the army remains behind these debates: the chief of staff, General Biagué Nam Tam, assured the press that the army will not interfere in political life.
