It is to prevent cheating at the college exam that the government's special investigators have proposed checks with radio wave and metal detectors, as well as manual body inspection if necessary.

According to JO Katarina Påhlsson, cheating on the university exam does not justify the interference with constitutionally protected freedoms and rights that body visitation would entail.

- When compared to other purposes where body visitation is used, this is a much weaker purpose, and then I find it difficult to substantiate the proposal on the documents that exist, she tells TT.

Does not highlight the issue of criminalization

Linköping University has also responded to the referral. Among other things, the University considers it unfortunate that the investigation does not elucidate the question of possible criminalization of cheating. At the same time, it is considered problematic that the proposal places high demands on the test leader and that the new role places demands on both preparation and training that are not normally included in the activities of the university.

According to the proposal, the University and Higher Education Council can also decide that a test participant who refuses to undergo admission checks will be suspended from participation in the test for two years. The suspension is something that Linköping University is questioning, according to the university, it would be perfectly enough that in that case just one will not get results on the test in question. Instead, suspension should be reserved for those students who were actually caught using unauthorized tools.
