October 29, 2019A hooded man fired on protesters protesting in Kerbala, central Iraq, against the Baghdad government. Witnesses quoted by Sky News report this. According to an initial assessment, in addition to the 13 dead there are also over 865 injured in the clash between demonstrators and police.

A witness quoted by the Associated Press stated that dozens of protesters were in a sort of camp organized in a town square when they were subjected to repeated gunshots fired from a car. The witness explained that on the spot men with covered faces arrived, dressed in black, who continued to shoot at the protesters.


The witness said that dozens of protesters were in tents mounted in a town square when they were hit by gunshots fired from a moving car. Also according to the witness, who wanted to remain anonymous, at that point masked men dressed in black arrived and started shooting at protesters.
