We know more about the profile and motivations of the man who tried to set fire to the mosque in Bayonne and who attacked Monday night two faithful. Injured by bullet, their days are no longer in danger, assured the prosecutor of the Republic of Bayonne late Tuesday afternoon. He also returned to hearing the mis en cause.

Faced with police investigators on Tuesday, Claude Sinké denies having the will to kill anyone. During his hearing, the octogenarian claims to have made several searches to set the mosque on fire at a time when the building is very busy. Disturbed in his plans, he would have shot two faithful without premeditation.

The man who seems psychologically unstable, however, confessed to the reasons for his attempt to set the mosque on fire.

" He explains his gesture by the desire to avenge the destruction of the Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris by saying that the fire of this building was caused by members of the Muslim community ," said Marc Mariée, public prosecutor from Bayonne

It is now a psychiatrist who will have to decide on the criminal responsibility of Claude Sinké. During a search of his home, several weapons and ammunition were found including a 16-gauge shotgun.

And the national antiterrorist prosecution has not yet been seized in this case.
