Solonnikov emphasized that this topic is not new.

“The proposal that an alternative direction should be created - yes, it sounded, and the State Department has been financing this alternative direction for several years. Now, two million Danish crowns will be sprayed with a thin layer on European media, which are trying to publish something in Russian, ”the expert explained.

He also noted that the amount that they plan to allocate for these purposes is not significant.

“But, firstly, two million in order to work on the territory of all of Eastern and Northern Europe and the Baltic countries is basically nothing, it’s rather like that - to show your interest, but not really create anything. And secondly, who will do the product? In general, nothing new will be created, ”the analyst stated.

In his opinion, the majority of residents speak foreign languages quite well, and they can, if they wish, read and watch foreign media outlets that present an alternative point of view.

“If you need to see the European liberal point of view, they can watch CNN and the BBC, they can watch French quality channels,” he concluded.

Earlier, the Baltic countries announced plans to combat the Russian media.

In this regard, during the meeting on October 28, support for the Baltic media was discussed. The members of the council decided to allocate a little over 2 million Danish kroner (about $ 300 thousand) for these purposes by the end of 2021.
