"There is an ongoing theft wave across the country," says Erik Terneborn, the police's press spokesman.

The police received five new reports of theft on Monday and in all cases it was about BMW cars.

"Takes a maximum of 30 seconds"

According to police, steering wheels, dashboards, navigation equipment and center consoles have been stolen from the cars. The thefts took place on Noachsgatan, Aprikosvägen, Riktargatan and Klostergatan.

- Many of the thefts are similar in the way they are performed. You crush a box and almost always take the wheel. And it goes quickly, you usually talk about it takes a maximum of 30 seconds, he says.

SVT Sörmland has previously stated that last week the police received a total of nine reports of thefts from BMW cars in Sörmland.

- We work intensively with these types of thefts, but they are, after all, very difficult to investigate. We'll see if we succeed in paving any success, he says.

Parking in garage

The police want tips from the public to stop the burglaries.

- Often, many of these are out and about in the areas the days before so that you find suitable cars. It is important to be observant on vehicles that you do not recognize. If you have the opportunity, you should park your car in a garage because many of the cars that have been exposed have been parked outdoors, he says.
