Vlatko Andonovski has been named coach of the US women's football team to replace Jill Ellis who led the Americans to a double world championship (2015, 2019), announced Monday the Federation.

Andonovski, 43, was head of Megan Rapinoe's Reign FC (United States) in 2018 and 2019. He won two US women's crown titles with FC Kansas City, which he coached between 2013 and 2017, earning him the title of coach of the year twice.

In July, Megan Rapinoe, star of the World Cup-2019, was elected Golden Shoe for being the best scorer of the competition and received the Golden Ball rewarding the best player of the planetary tournament organized in France.

A few days later, on July 30, Jill Ellis, 53, announced that she would leave the selection after driving her to two world titles in a row (2015 and 2019).

For his part, Andonovski will make his first outing with Team USA against Sweden and against Costa Rica in a friendly preparation match for Olympic qualifications for the Tokyo 2020 Games.
