“Contrary to misleading statements, the new United States rules will strengthen economic terrorism against ordinary Iranians,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter page.
He also noted that the US Treasury Department is currently “targeting not only food, but also drug imports.”
According to TASS, the new payment mechanism is designed to control US trade in humanitarian goods with Iran to exclude support for the development of the Iranian missile program and terrorists involved in it.
It was previously reported that the United States has expanded its sanctions list on Iran.
In early September, the US Treasury announced the expansion of sanctions against Iran.
