The Supreme Committee for the Elections of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCEC) announced on Sunday the preliminary list of candidates for the 2019 membership, which included 189 candidates, including 41 women, from the nine electoral districts distributed to the Emirate of Sharjah after completing the verification of fulfilling the regulations and conditions governing the candidacy process.

The Supreme Committee, chaired by the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Elections of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, approved Dr. Mansour Mohammed Bin Nassar in the presence of its members the names of candidates in the preliminary list of the elections of the Advisory Council.

The Supreme Committee for the elections of the Council presented to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the highest congratulations and congratulations on the completion of the registration of candidates' applications, which were implemented in accordance with the timetable and in accordance with the directives and follow-up of His Highness.

The Committee expressed its deep thanks to all those who applied for nomination at the invitation of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah out of their national sense and awareness of their role in participating in decision-making.

For his part, Advisor Dr. Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar praised the participation of the sons and daughters of the Emirate of Sharjah in the registration process of voters and candidates out of their eagerness to exercise their right and national duty, praising the efforts of various authorities and government departments in the Emirate to facilitate the electoral process and support the efforts of the Higher Committee and various committees emanating from it. Ben Nassar pointed out that the adoption of the preliminary list of candidates came after the audits of the applications of registrants for nomination for the nine electoral bodies and each application was examined individually and verified whether it complies with the conditions set by the law establishing the Advisory Council and the decree organizing elections.

The Higher Committee for the Elections of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah indicated that the preliminary list of approved candidates who are eligible to run in the electoral race was distributed among the nine electoral districts in the Emirate of Sharjah as follows.

Sharjah has 69 candidates

Al Dhaid 13 candidates

Maliha 9 candidates

Al Bataeh 6 candidates

Khorfakkan has 36 candidates

Kalba 21 candidates

Madam has 12 candidates

Dibba Al Hisn has 17 candidates

Hamriya 6 candidates

The preliminary accreditation list shows that Sharjah city women registered the highest number of candidates for the Advisory Council elections with 18 women, 7 Kalba, 6 Khorfakkan, 6 Dibba Al Hisn, two women for Hamriyah, and one for both Bataah and Madam.

Regarding the age group, 47 candidates under the age of 40 were accredited, including 13 from Sharjah, 5 from Kalba, 2 from Al Dhaid, 4 from Al Madam, 6 from Maliha, 10 Khorfakkan, 4 Dibba Al Hisn, 1 from Al Bataeh and 2 from Al Hamriya.

The number of candidates aged 40-60 reached 132 candidates, 54 from Sharjah, 24 from Khorfakkan, 15 from Kalba, 11 from Dibba Al Hisn, 4 from Hamriyah, 3 from Maliha, 8 from Dhaid, 5 from Al Bataah and 8 from Madam.

The preliminary list included 10 candidates over the age of 60 from Sharjah, two, Al Dhaid three, two from Khorfakkan, one from Kalba and two from Dibba Al Hisn.

According to the timetable approved by the Supreme Committee for Elections of the Consultative Council of Sharjah earlier, the names will be announced in a final list on 31 October.

Objections

The Higher Committee for the Elections of the Advisory Council of Sharjah announced that on Monday, October 28 th, the start of the submission of applications for the objection of candidates to members of the electoral bodies for two days and on 30 October, the Committee announces its response to the objections to the candidates.

The objections committee, headed by Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, chairman of the committee, and the membership of Judge Mohammed Hassan Al Marzouqi and Judge Salama Rashid Al Ketbi, will study the objections and report according to the legal opinion to the Supreme Committee.

According to the Higher Committee for the Elections of the Consultative Council of Sharjah, each member of the Electoral College has the right to object to the candidacy of a candidate, in accordance with the conditions established by Article 54 of Emiri Decree No. 59 of 2015, on the organization of the elections of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

The conditions of appeal were determined to be based on admissible grounds. The appeal shall be submitted to the Department Committee during (28-29 October 2019), to be submitted to the Appeals Committee.

According to the conditions, the applicant shall deposit an amount of (3000) dirhams as a guarantee to the Higher Committee.
