The health conditions of the man, MC resident in Ancona and 65 years old, are considered stable: he could have fractures in his legs, in particular an ankle.

Over 30 volunteers from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps are at work assisted by the Marche, Abruzzo and Umbria speleological aid delegations, as well as the Carabinieri of the Genga station.

The man must spend the whole night in a stretcher inside the Grotta del Vento-Fiume in Frasassi di Genga (Ancona) where he fell after slipping for about twenty meters.

The speleologist would have lost his balance while, in the morning, along with three other friends he was making a descent into the Cave of the hypogeum complex, a space dedicated exclusively by those who are particularly skilled and practical to slip into the narrow caves.

To give the alarm, around 2 pm, a companion of the injured who reached the exit of the Grotto. The other two, however, remained with the injured friend. of the Genga station. To coordinate the 11 / a area of ​​the Delegation of the Marche with the first team sent reached around 20.00 the wounded.

The rescue will continue throughout the night because various teams of volunteers must prepare and equip the part of the Grotto, from where the wounded man is at the exit, for over two kilometers. It is necessary to position the useful ropes to make the stretcher with the wounded pass that is always conscious and lucid. In the next few hours, the two companions will be brought to the surface.
