US operations Abu Bakr Al-Bagadi died after terrorist group Islamic state IS killed France has stepped up its domestic terror alert against IS retaliation.

French Minister of Home Affairs Christophe Castaner wrote to local police chiefs yesterday at local time and ordered heightened alert over fears of retaliation terrorism by members of the IS group and his co-ordinates.

Mr. Castaner said in a letter that "extremely heightened alertness is needed because underground acts may instigate retaliation after al-Bagadi's death."

Mr. Castaner has instructed national police chiefs, especially in the near future at key events in their jurisdiction.

US President Donald Trump announced earlier that day, a special force had been used to remove the IS bomber's al-Bagadi in northwestern Syria, and he reportedly killed a suicide bomber on his way.

France is a major ally in the US-led Syrian IS retreat.

Since 2015, more than 250 people have been killed in terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists, including IS.

The most deadly terrorist attack was the Paris 2015 terrorist attacks in November 2015, where 129 citizens were killed when IS-led terrorists committed serial suicide bombings and shooting terrorist attacks in downtown and outside Paris and soccer fields. .
