A 13th-century painting by Renaissance Italian artist Cimabue was found in a kitchen in a rural village house in France and sold for more than 30 billion won.

According to French media, including the AFP news agency, on July 27, an Italian Florentist painter, Cimabu, painted in 1280 on a wooden board, 'Christ Being Teased,' The bid was over 24 million euros (worth 31.3 billion won).

The € 24 million bid is the best bid ever for a medieval painting in the French art auction market.

Painted on a 20cm wide and 26cm long wooden board, this piece is a part of a woodblock iconography depicting Jesus' crucifixion and crucifixion in 1280, showing Jesus being mocked by people.

French art connoisseurs confirmed by infrared analysis that the work was authentic by Chimabu.

This painting was made by an elderly woman who lived in the small town of Compiegne near Paris.

The woman thought that the painting was simply an old torch passed down to the family and hung it in the kitchen and living room.

The paintings were often overlaid because they hung directly above the fireplace in a rural residential kitchen, but the preservation was relatively good, according to auctioneer Akteon.

Akteon explained that when he puts everything together in style, gold background, and connections at the back of the wooden board, he can see that the painting is part of the wooden board iconograph painted by Cimabu.

Before the painting was discovered, the woodblock iconic painting of the Passion of Jesus by Cimabu in 1280 was `` Jesus Being Whipped '' by the Fiction Collection in New York, USA. Only the baby has been handed down.

Among them, the work in London, when donated to the National Gallery in 2000, was estimated at £ 6.5 million (currently valued at 9.8 billion won).

This painting was also discovered by a British nobleman cleaning up his ancestor's home in Suffolk.

Cimabu is a Renaissance-era painter based in Florence, Italy, inheriting the Byzantine art tradition and known as the teacher of Florentine painters.

Art historians believe that Cimabu's paintings on wooden boards are only about 10. He did not leave his signature on the painting.
