According to the Regional Board, the emergency room is in great need of being equipped to be able to follow the care needs. On October 29, a decision will be made on the redevelopment of the regional council.

- Yes, it is up for decision now and I have a hard time believing it would not go through. This is part of the strategic property plan, says Per Heidenfors, operations manager for real estate services.

Planned start of construction in February

Through technical upgrades and an improvement in the flow for both visitors and staff, it is hoped that waiting times will be shorter.

The redevelopment will increase accessibility and create the conditions for new working methods. If everything goes according to plan, the rebuilding will start in February 2020.

Need to be adapted

- Today, the premises are worn and crowded, we have poor flows and old installations. So they need to be adapted to be able to operate a modern emergency care, says Per Heidenfors.

During the work, the reception is moved to another part of the hospital.
