In Algeria, a new event is taking place this Friday, for the 36th week in a row. Protesters still reject the holding of a presidential election. Candidates have until tomorrow night to file their file.

Admittedly, the Algerian authorities say they will keep the vote, but they said the same thing for the July 4 election. Finally, the Constitutional Council had announced that no candidate's file was admissible.

The protesters hope to be able to put pressure on the organizers of the poll and the candidates themselves. That's why they began to meet in the streets of Algiers this Friday afternoon, with in their hands, many signs saying their rejection of the election scheduled December 12.

Another demand of the demonstrators: the release of arrested persons, for Berber flag in particular. Some have been in custody for more than three months.

The demonstrators put one last push of pressure before the closing of the candidatures.

Only two applications filed

There are only a few hours left to file the files accompanied by the necessary sponsorship with the authority that organizes and controls the ballot.

For the moment, two people have submitted theirs: the former Minister of Culture Azzedine Mihoubi, now head of the second party of the country, a party that was a member of the presidential alliance, and Abdelkrim Bengrina, former Minister of Tourism, to the head of a small Islamist party.

Two other personalities announced that they too would be candidates. They are Abdelmadjid Tebboune, prime minister during the fourth term of Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Ali Benflis , head of government during the former president's first term.

Among those who favor the holding of the election, no candidate seems at the moment to be a favorite.
