The head of VTB spoke about the onset of the “sanction pause”

“Now, some kind of sanction pause has come,” Kostin said in an interview with Russia 24.

The head of VTB expressed the hope that in the near future strengthening of sanctions pressure will not occur.

“Perhaps there will be some kind of“ progress ”that will allow European countries to take some measures to lift and ease sanctions,” he added.

In March, Canada imposed sanctions on Russia, which included Andrei Kostin, among others.

In September 2018, Kostin announced that the Russian banking sector, with the support of the Central Bank, would be able to resist possible new U.S. sanctions.
