Patriarch Kirill will come to Japan in 2020

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill will come to Japan in September 2020 to take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the canonization of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nicholas of Japan.



“At the invitation of Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo, I intend to visit Japan in September 2020,” the patriarch congratulated the Emperor of Japan Naruhito on the occasion of intronization on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The patriarch noted that the canonization of Equal-to-the-Apostles Nicholas is an important date in the history of Japanese Orthodoxy.

He also wished the Japanese emperor health and the people of Japan well-being and prosperity.

On May 26, Patriarch Kirill consecrated the Russian Church of All Saints in Strasbourg, France.
