The man went to Sunderby hospital on Wednesday to x-ray the axis of the MR cart located outside Sunderby hospital. He met the male nurse who gave him accurate instructions on removing jewelry and glasses and other practical details before the examination began.

A sudden roar

- I also got a rubber mop that I could press if I panicked. The investigation would take about a quarter of an hour, but when I lay there for a while with earplugs in my ears, I suddenly heard a bang and someone whining terribly. Suddenly I was also hit by a hand that hit my lip, the man says.

Later he realized that it was the hand of the X-ray nurse who met him when he got stuck in the machine.

Strypsituation

A moment later he also heard a woman shouting something.

- I understood that it was not as it should be and I have to get out of the MR camera on my own. It was difficult to get out of that tunnel, I can say, but it went.

When he was out of the camera he saw that the X-ray nurse was stuck in the magnetic camera with a strap around his neck.

- It was a strangulation situation. The strap, perhaps four inches thick, belonged to a vest worn by the nurse. I tried to wear the strap with my hands, but it was impossible. I couldn't even get a finger between his neck and the strap.

The security guard came with a knife

- I called to the woman who came into the carriage to try to find a knife so that I could cut the strap but when she did not find anyone I asked her to run for help and then the guard who had a thin knife came on.

When the guard cut off the strap, the X-ray nurse fell to the floor.

- He was bloody in the face and very badly injured. If it had been a while longer he would not have been able to.

The man says that Sunderby Hospital offered him debriefing but that he has declined.

- I manage it on my own even though it was a shocking and unexpected experience.
