“One of the passersby reported the incident to the police. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they saw that still fresh red paint was flowing down the monument. A criminal case has been opened on this fact, for which the vandals face imprisonment of up to one year, ”RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

The Russian Embassy in the Czech Republic has already commented on the act of vandalism.

“We note with alarm the second act of vandalism per day in the Czech Republic regarding memorials dedicated to the liberators of Czechoslovakia from Nazism. This time we are talking about a monument at the honorary burial of 328 fallen Red Army soldiers in the urban area of Brno-Kralovo Pole, ”the department said.

They called the insult to the memory of the Red Army men a cowardly barbaric trick that contradicts the norms of a civilized society.

“We are grateful to the municipal authorities for promptly bringing the military burial place in Brno-Kralovo Pole in proper form,” they added.

Earlier, vandals poured paint and painted a monument to the Red Army in the Czech city of Ostrava.
