The plans, which include 400 housing units and a ten-storey building, meet strong resistance from the residents of the municipality. The name collection that over 2500 Öckerobor has signed means that the entire detailed plan must be demolished and redone.

- Two weeks ago we had a meeting in the hometown, it was filled. We talked together, then we did an event and invited people. It all went very fast, says Marcus Sjögren, who has been collecting signatures.

He believes that the project has come so far that it is no longer possible to fine-tune the details, but that the only way to stop it all is to tear up the entire detailed plan.

- The new Öckerö is not for us who live here. Tear down the detail plan, redo, do right. We have lots of ideas, many want something to change in the center, but here on the coast there is a certain culture about how to build and we think that you should preserve, says Marcus Sjögren.

"We take the views"

Municipal Board Chairman Jan Utbult (KD) says when SVT Nyheter Väst calls him that he is aware that a list of names should be submitted during Thursday evening but that he did not know how many who had signed.

- Of course, we will take the views that come in and then we will see what the policy comes up with, he says. A discussion is already underway in the political parties regarding, among other things, heights and some adjustments may need to be made before the plan is adopted by the municipal council.

He also says that the residents' views are an important part of the development work with Öckerö's new center. We have had both an early citizen dialogue and a consultation where views have been received and taken advantage of.

- We have agreed with the developer Tornstaden that the rents being built will be offered to those who are in the municipal housing queue. It has not been obvious from the beginning, he continues.
