The diplomatic mission called short-sighted attempts to denigrate those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Czechoslovakia from Nazism.

“It is well known that Ostrava was liberated by the Red Army along with the fighters of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps. It is no coincidence that two figures are depicted together on a monument drenched with vandals of red paint - a Red Army man and a Czech worker, ”diplomats said on Facebook.

The embassy expressed gratitude to the city leadership and residents who condemned the barbaric trick of the vandals.

The agency also expects that vandals will be found and punished, and the authorities will take measures to prevent such incidents.

Earlier, vandals poured paint and painted a monument to the Red Army in the Czech city of Ostrava.

The city administration is already dealing with the issue of cleaning the memorial.
