Myung-Hee Myung-Hee, head of trade negotiations, visited the United States to discuss current issues regarding Korea's status as a developing country within the WTO.

The United States held that it was unfair for countries with high economic development to enjoy developing countries' status within the WTO, and Yu explained the sensitivity of the Korean agricultural sector.

Yoo met with key US government officials in Washington, DC, including the US Representative for Light Heisers and Larry Kerr as chairman of the White House National Economic Commission.

When Yu met with reporters after the interview, he asked the United States' response to the question of developing country status, saying, "We emphasized the importance of developing country issues in terms of WTO reform. "We've been constantly raising what we called out in President Trump's decision in July."

"We are very concerned about developing country issues in terms of WTO reforms, and we continue to raise the point that a significant level of economic development will not help developing and reforming WTO countries." He said.

President Trump urged the WTO to address the issue on July 26, saying that countries with high economic development enjoy preferential benefits using the status of developing countries in the WTO.
