In Zimbabwe, at least 55 elephants have died of hunger and thirst in the country's main reserve, Hwange Park, in the last two months. A consequence of the drought but also the overpopulation of pachyderms in the nature reserve.

In neighboring Botswana, around 100 elephants have been killed in Chobe National Park in the north of the country. According to the Ministry of Environment, the causes of their deaths are hunger and "anthrax", also known as "anthrax". These are two effects of the drought that is hitting the country. The corpses of pachyderms victims of anthrax, will be cremated to avoid contagion to other animals

For several seasons, Botswana and neighboring countries have been experiencing recurring droughts. Episodes aggravated by global warming, which affect the food security of the population and wildlife.
