Volunteers are already used today in several other locations in the country. Volunteers will have no more authority than ordinary citizens. Instead, they will function as police eyes and ears in society.
- It is primarily about communication. They should mingle and be reactive if something happens. Then you can also take part in safety walks or events such as the Brännbollsyran, says Ronny Adolfsson, police officer.
Interested parties can now apply to become a volunteer. The police then make a check so that the applicants do not appear in any criminal record before being taken in for an individual call. Then 20-25 will be selected for training.
- The training will, among other things, consist of a review of how the police organization looks like, how the secret legislation works and heart and lung rescue. Then the volunteers are equipped with reflex vests and communication radio with which they can call police patrols, says Adolfsson.
