Health Minister Agnès Buzyn sees in the public hospital a "national treasure" and assured Tuesday before the Assembly to have "an acute awareness" of its "great difficulty", promising future announcements.
"I am well aware of the situation of the public hospital in our country, I am even acutely aware ... Yes, the public hospital is in great difficulty," said the minister. opening of debates on the draft 2020 budget of social security, while concerns are expressed even in the ranks of the majority.
"I do not doubt that our exchanges will be largely marked by this subject (...) This is legitimate because the public hospital is a national treasure," she continued, stressing that the government had "already begun to act "to give back" perspectives and ambitions "to the hospital.
The minister said she met "daily with the actors of the hospital world", exchanging with them "on the construction of long-term solutions". She said she wanted to "bring together parliamentarians to clarify and complete possible avenues for action".
"I have already made announcements on emergencies, I am also working on the multi-annuality (funding, Editor's note), on the attractiveness of careers, on the next price campaign and on hospital investments. in this context in the coming days and in the coming weeks, "she added.
Buzyn has also put forward a "spirit of financial responsibility" with the draft budget which provides for a deficit of 5.1 billion next year, ensuring that "save money does not mean undermining the rights of the French".
She referred to "new rights to face new risks", citing "the creation of a compensation fund for victims of phytosanitary products" or the compensated caregiver leave provided for in the text.
It has also put forward a "preventive social protection" with, for example, the establishment of a guarantee of payment of maintenance.
"My goal, our goal, is to reaffirm the presence of the welfare state at every stage of life," she concluded.
Minister of Public Accounts Gérald Darmanin praised in the wake of a text that "reflects the subtle balance difficult to hold" between "the financial responsibility, the simplification of life of the French working and strengthening the most vulnerable".
