“On October 22, the SBU counterintelligence, in pursuance of the decision of the investigating judge, detained the former deputy minister of economic development and trade of Ukraine at the Boryspil airport,” the press release said.

The ex-deputy minister along with officials of two state enterprises are suspected of actions against the interests of Ukraine in favor of a foreign company.

“They concluded a deliberately unprofitable contract with foreigners for the manufacture and supply of a line for the production of artillery shells totaling over $ 16.5 million,” the SBU said.

Thus, an advance payment of more than $ 8.2 million was transferred to the accounts of fictitious offshore enterprises.

At the same time, equipment was not delivered to Ukraine.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, we are talking about Yuri Brovchenko, who served as deputy head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the country from July 2016 to September 2019.

In late August, the ex-Minister of Health of Ukraine Raisa Bogatyreva was detained at the Kiev airport, in relation to which the case of the seizure of other people's property is being investigated.
