The International Athletics Federation (IAAF) unveiled Monday the calendar of the Diamond League 2020, with an additional meeting in China and where is Stockholm, initially excluded.

Next season, the competition will have 15 stages between April 17 and September 11, one more than last year, and while the IAAF announced plans to reduce the number of days.

In addition to the Shanghai meeting, a second stage will take place in China, in a city still to be determined. The Chinese giant Wanda becomes a new sponsor of the competition.

The traditional meeting in Birmingham, whose stadium is to be renovated, will be replaced by a competition in Gateshead, still in England. There will be only one final (in Zurich), against two usually.

The Stockholm meeting, initially excluded by the IAAF, is one of the competitions on the program.

"We are happy and proud that the Diamond League is still seeing the same potential as us" in the Stockholm meeting, "said the boss of the event, Jan Kowalski, in a statement.

In September, the Swedish organizers announced that their meeting had been excluded from the circuit, also indicating that the IAAF was considering removing the discus throw from the competition.

Last March, the International Federation drew the contours of a reformed Diamond League, with fewer meetings, which will ultimately not be the case, and fewer trials.

The suppression of the 5000 m has been registered since March, but other events should also disappear.

The IAAF has also decided to shorten the duration of the TV broadcast of the competitions to 90 minutes, instead of two hours so far.
