UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Niels Meltzer told RT in an interview that the United Kingdom did not investigate cases of ill-treatment of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at Belmarsh prison in Britain. In response to Meltzer’s request, the authorities sent a very short letter in which they denied all the charges. The Special Rapporteur also noted that the UK is a party to the UN Convention against Torture, which obliges the investigation to be carried out if there is a good reason for that.
