US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he was abandoning his highly criticized plan to host a G7 summit at a golf course in Miami, Florida, southeast.

"Due to both the media and the irrational Hostility of Crazy Democrats, we will no longer consider the Doral Trump National of Miami to host the G7 in 2020," he wrote on Twitter, reacting to accusations of corruption.

"We will start looking for another site, including possibly Camp David, immediately," he added.

The White House chief of staff announced Thursday that this site would be "the best place" among a dozen that have been considered. The presidency has since faced a volley of criticism, noting that the decision violated a multitude of ethical rules.

The next day, the elected congressional Democrats, who have already opened an investigation to dismiss Mr. Trump, signed a bill to prevent the project from succeeding.

It was called "Trump's Heist Undermines the G-7 (THUG) Act" ("Trump's robbery sabotages the G7"), a play on words with "thug" (thug), and would have blocked any federal funding for this. summit, although it was unlikely to succeed knowing the Republican majority in the Senate.

The Doral Trump National is one of the most important assets in Trump's fortune, but, according to the Washington Post, he has suffered heavily in recent years.
