19 October 201923.00 The Russian tennis player Alexander Volkov died at the age of 52. The reasons for death are not known. Professional since 1988, he became famous by winning the first title in 1991 in Milan beating, in the final at the Assago Forum, the Italian Cristiano Caratti. He played as a left-handed, but he was born right-handed: at age 15, a promising junior, he broke his shoulder in an accident. He did not give up and started from scratch with his left hand. In 1993 it reached the 13th world position. He retired in 1998.
