Lack of access to consumables in healthcare and unclear deliveries mean that the region decided to suspend the 40 planned operations on Monday as well. At least. Other suppliers that receive emergency orders are not necessarily second-hand.

- The problem is if they come from southern Sweden, Denmark or maybe even Germany we do not know when they will come. Then they have to be scanned and registered here, says the deputy hospital director, who is also a decision-maker on the staff.

Hitherto canceled operations also in Köping

Lena Alhbin, head of operations for the Women's Clinic, says that during Thursday five to six operations were canceled in Köping.

- It's about different gynecological surgeries, it can be about scrapes. There have been no surgeries where it is dangerous to wait, no cancer surgery and no planned caesarean section. We get material deliveries, but not everything we need, she says.

No affected children

Åsa Hedblom, Head of Operations for the Children's Clinic, where you prepare children for operations, says that they have not yet been affected by the material shortage.

- On Thursday, there were some children who were relevant for scopes (peephole examinations), they had to carry them out, she says.

The surgeon's clinic has had to set up some planned surgeries where patients have been able to wait a month without any risks.

- All cancer patients have been able to operate and all emergency operations have been performed, no children have been affected. It has worked without a hassle, which is because the region is well structured, it has been well managed here. Tonight our surgeons operated fully. Sure, we notice that there is a lack of equipment, but there has been no risk to patient safety, says Haile Mahteme, operations manager of the surgeon clinic.
