The appointment of Thomas Lombard to the position of general manager of Stade Français was made official Thursday by the owner-president of the Paris club Hans-Peter Wild, who also confirmed his coach Heyneke Meyer.

The arrival of this former three-quarter center of the Parisian house, currently a consultant for television, was expected in recent weeks agitated behind the scenes that saw Hans-Peter Wild take the presidency on 18 September.

Lombard, 44, spent seven seasons under the colors of Stade Français with which he won four Brennus shields.

The former French international (12 caps) will take office at the end of the World Cup in Japan on November 4th.

"I am confident that with his help, Heyneke (Meyer) will bring the club to the victories and success," the Swiss businessman said in a statement, confirming at the same time his coach threatened by the bad start of season of his team, last in the Top 14 with two wins in seven games.

"Heyneke Meyer is and will remain sporting director and head coach," said Hans-Peter Wild.

"I have never contacted other coaches to replace him, I do not know Vern Cotter nor Gonzalo Quesada, whose names have been mentioned in the media to replace the South African," and I never have them met, "insisted the Swiss billionaire, owner of the club since summer 2017.

Hans-Peter Wild also stressed that he will continue to "fund and run the club in order to make it one of the best teams in France and internationally".

Fabien Grobon, who until now held the position of general manager, leaves "by mutual agreement" the club 14 times winner of the championship of France, the last time in 2015, and holder of a Challenge Cup (2017).
