The Östergötland region now joins the SMS lifeguard service. It is a service that states that when a 112 call about suspected cardiac arrest arrives at the SOS alarm, an alarm is sent to the registered SMS lifeguards located in the area in question.
All citizens who have been trained in cardiac rescue can join and become SMS lifesavers.
- The system enables life-saving interventions in the event of sudden cardiac arrest where time is a decisive factor. As an SMS lifeguard, you become one in the team together with an ambulance and rescue service to help a fellow person, says Jessica Holmström, Marketing Manager for SMS lifeguards in a press release.
