“There was an extensive exchange of views on the situation on the ground in Syria, primarily in the light of the current escalation of tension in the north-east of the country. A common belief was confirmed that the achievement of lasting and long-term stabilization on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, in Syria and in the region as a whole is possible only on the basis of restoring the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the ATS, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov spoke about the upcoming talks between Russian and Turkish leaders Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
