The Abu Dhabi Government Services System (TAM), in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police, has provided individuals with the opportunity to obtain a driver's license through 8 steps that can be implemented through its website and on a journey to obtain a new driver's license.


Step 1: Request to open a driving license file
The procedure takes two business days, but you should first make sure that you are eligible to open a new driver's license file. The front and back of your foreign / GCC driver's license will also require you to upload a recent photograph.


Step 2: Pay the license file fees
Opening a traffic file is AED 200 non-refundable
Step 3: Obtain theoretical driving lessons
You can get theoretical driving lessons at the designated driving centers.


Step 4: Issue the appointment date
Through this service, you can request to book a road test appointment, and once you set the road test date, you can start the external practical training of the road which must be completed before the test.
The road test booking fee is AED 115 and the road test fee is AED 200.


Step 5: Manage your training card
The training card is issued when the road test date is issued, so please check the expiry date of the training card.


Step 6: Get hands-on (street)
After issuing the training card, you must receive hands-on lessons on Abu Dhabi roads that can be scheduled at the Leadership Institute.


Step 7: Driving Test (Street)
Once you have successfully completed a street driving training, you must apply for a driving test.


Step 8: Obtain a driving license
After a successful street check, a new driving license is issued which you can collect from the driving school or the nearest Customer Happiness Center.
The issuance of the driving license is 315 dirhams
