Former President Francois Hollande will sign a children's book devoted to the Republic, we learned Thursday from the publisher Glénat.

Published in the collection "When it's OK, when it's not right", a documentary series for children from the age of 5, the book entitled "Their Republic Explained to Young and Young at Heart" will be published in February 2020.

It is "a clear and didactic book on the foundations of our Republic and what makes it a democracy", explained the editor in his argument. Glénat is particularly pleased that this book (64 pages, 15 euros) was "written by a man who has exercised the highest office and who, through 40 years of local and national politics, has identified expectations and misunderstandings of his fellow citizens ".

The book is illustrated by the designer Laure Monloubou.

Throughout the pages, young readers will be able to discover what a country, a constitution or what have been the different political regimes since the French Revolution.

Pending the publication of this book, the former head of state will publish next Wednesday a short book of interviews entitled "Answering the democratic crisis" (Fayard / Terra Nova), a reflection on the institutions of the fifth Republic, the "ambiguities and contradictions of our Constitution".

The former president had a huge success in bookstores (150,000 copies sold) in 2018 with his book "The lessons of power" (Stock) which has just been reissued in the paperback.
