Participants in the extremist organization "New Greatness" tried to cut themselves in the arms and neck during a meeting of the Lublin District Court of Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the court.

On Thursday, October 17, the question of the possibility of changing the defendants in the case of a preventive measure from taking into custody to house arrest or a written undertaking not to leave the place was considered.

“During the trial in the criminal case against Kostylenkov, Pavlikova and others, two defendants: Ruslan Kostylenkov and Vyacheslav Kryukov, while in boxing, inflicted cuts on themselves with the razor blade in the area of the arm and neck (Kryukov is only arms),” RT press release.

It is noted that the victims received first aid, an ambulance arrived.

“Other details of the incident will be announced as more information is received. The hearing was interrupted, ”the press service of the Lublin District Court explained.

They also noted that they did not have information about how the defendants had sharp-cutting objects.

“For questions about how the blade was carried into the glass box, you should contact the leadership of the escort regiment, which is responsible for escorting the detainees to the courtroom,” the court explained.

Lawyer Maxim Pashkov, whose client Maria Borovik is also a defendant in this case, told RT about what happened.

“Now the ambulance arrived in court, we were handed the papers and all were put out of the territory. An ambulance stands, does not drive off, the police are nearby. And what happened - they refused to satisfy the application, to change the preventive measure. Kostylenkov shouted: “We will be free!” - and with a blade to his veins, then back to his neck. Masha Dubovik screamed, she has a tantrum. And then she saw that Slava also cut himself, ”said the lawyer.

He also could not confirm the exact number of victims.

“You see, my Masha is screaming, she’s hysterical, and I’ll look and be curious, who cut himself?” Pashkov added.

He later told TASS that Ruslan Kostylenkov was hospitalized.

“He has a serious neck cut, so Kostylenkov was sent to the hospital,” Pashkov said. He also did not rule out that Kryukov was also hospitalized.

Konstantin Kotov has been brought to administrative responsibility ten times since May 2018. He was detained after an uncoordinated protest in central Moscow on August 10. He became a defendant in a criminal case under article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Repeated violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picket”). On September 5, the Tver court of Moscow found him guilty; Kotov received four years in prison. However, he himself does not admit guilt.

The Case of the New Greatness

In March 2018, law enforcement officials detained ten members of the New Greatness, some of them minors. A criminal case was instituted against them in parts 1 and 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code (“Organization of the extremist community and participation in it”). They were placed in custody and under house arrest in March.

In addition, the names of the suspects were included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of individuals involved in terrorism.

According to investigators, they intended to carry out a coup in order to seize power in Russia. At the same time, the defense side claims that the initiative to create a community allegedly belongs to the police and special services, who rigged this provocation against the accused.

In March 2019, the Sergiev Posad City Court of the Moscow Region sentenced two years of imprisonment to Rustam Rustamov, who pleaded guilty.

In April 2019, another defendant in the case, Pavel Rebrovsky, was sentenced to 2.5 years in a penal colony. However, in October the Moscow City Court overturned the decision of the Lublin District Court and sent the case back for a new trial. He was released from jail on his own recognizance. On October 16, TASS reported that a case had been filed with the Lublin District Court regarding Rebrovsky, with no date for the meeting yet.
