After "You will not have my hate", released in 2016, a year after the attack on the Bataclan who took away his wife, Antoine Leiris returns with "Life after", in which he recounts his life as a widowed father with his son, Melvil.

INTERVIEW

Antoine Leiris did not rebuild his life, he "continues". Since the death of his companion, Hélène Muyal-Leiris, in the attack on Bataclan in Paris on November 15, 2015, the journalist continues "his way", as he told Thursday in the Grand Journal du Soir Nathalie Lévy on Europe 1. And the testimonies of the people he has been able to receive for four years have allowed him to understand "that there were many tortuous paths" like his.

Author in 2016 of You will not have my hatred, Antoine Leiris admits to have "put time" before diving into the writing of this second book: Life, after. "I wondered what I wanted to do," he admits. To be sincere with himself, obviously not recognizing himself in the character of his first book, he therefore needed to "close the loop."

The right to error

"More relaxed as a father", Antoine Leiris admits "to go and find who he was". The click is the adaptation of You will not have my hate in the theater, in which he does not know recognized. From there, he was no longer "only papers and words" according to his own words. "It was not me" this character, played by Raphael Personnaz. This allowed him to believe that he had "the right to be fallible, not to be perfect". "I agree with the mistake, it's the big difference between before and now."

The common passion of words

With his son, they share a passion for words. "And yet our relationship is beyond words," explains Antoine Leiris. "There is a very intimate, unfailing link that makes you recognize yourself" without having the need to express yourself. Aged 5, Melvile is always accompanied after the tragedy that took away his mother. "And it's also an accompaniment for me," admits Antoine Leiris. "It's a benevolent look at him" so he can react quickly in case of a problem. Always in the first stage of his life, "that of reconstruction", Antoine Leiris already prepares the following: "verbalization, understand what happened to his mother". But this will only happen in a second time.
