Gilles Simon won the Franco-French duel in Antwerp at the expense of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, winner of the tournament in 2017, in two sets (6-4, 7-5) to win Wednesday the quarterfinals.

Simon, 47th in the world, was more opportunistic in the important moments against the 34-year-old Manceau who had made his return to the world top 40 (currently 36) at the end of September by raising an 18th trophy in Metz.

Simon will face the winner of the match between the Swiss Stan Wawrinka (18th) and Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez (62) for a place in the semi-finals.
