The president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, continues to avoid condemning the violent protests that have been spreading throughout Catalonia for two days in response to the 1-0 ruling.

The head of the Catalan Executive has not appeared until half past one, after yesterday the second night of altercations ended with 51 detainees and 125 wounded.

Accompanied by former lehendakari Juan José Ibarretxe, Torra has launched a brief message from the head of one of the marches organized by the ANC to protest against the 1-0 ruling and has simply "reject the sentences" and defend "the right of self-determination "of the Catalans.

That of Torra was the first and only appearance of a member of the Government after the second night of violence in Catalonia. In the early hours, the head of the Catalan Executive has urgently gathered the dome of his Cabinet, formed by the Vice President of the Government, Pere Aragonès, the Minister of the Presidency, Meritxell Budó, and the Interior Minister, Miquel Buch. The latter was scheduled to appear at 10.30 am, but has delayed his intervention until 5 pm before the inability of the Government to agree on a story about what happened.

After staying at the meeting until 11.30, Torra has left the Palau de la Generalitat. The summit has already continued with Budó and Buch as sole assistants and without any ERC representative.

The response to the ruling has generated a schism in the Catalan Executive, the Republicans reproach Torra and Buch -a JxCat in short- their inability to control the streets and the use of force by the Mossos to control unbridled protests after be encouraged by the president of the Generalitat and his spokesman, who yesterday said he understood the "rage" of the protesters and "share" the "forcefulness" of the protests.
