According to RIA Novosti, Lavrov stressed that Russia "will continue to act in line with international law and UN Security Council resolutions."

He noted that the country will "encourage the achievement and implementation of the agreements between Damascus and the Kurds, as well as facilitate the establishment of cooperation between the authorities of Syria and Turkey to ensure security at their joint border."

On October 9, Ankara announced the start of the ground part of a military operation in Syria.

Lavrov, commenting on this operation, noted that Moscow will "seek the need to establish a dialogue between Turkey and the Syrian Arab Republic."
