“The order to extradite Sumbaev was issued on September 30, 2019. This is one of those cases in which we ask, as necessary, legal guarantees from any state, ”the department said.

According to a representative of the ministry, guarantees were received from Russia that meet the standards of the European Convention on Human Rights and the practice of the Strasbourg court.

Also, the press service reported that the exact date of the transfer is unknown.

“Sumbaev got acquainted with the order on October 15, and he has a reasonable time before transferring to appeal to the Strasbourg court to suspend extradition, which is his right,” the Ministry of Justice informed.
