186 people have been detained by Turkish authorities after spreading criticism of the ongoing Turkish offensive against Kurds in northeastern Syria. Now 24 of them have been suspected of "provoking the public into hatred and hostility" and "executing propaganda for a terrorist organization". The authorities call it "black propaganda".

Since the offensive began, Turkey has launched hundreds of investigations against people who have criticized them. Among these are other Kurdish politicians. That's what Haaretz writes.

Turkey has arrested critics before

The criticism of the offensive has been made on social media.

Turkey has acted in the same way in connection with previous, similar military operations. More than 300 people were arrested for critical statements in social media during Turkey's offensive into northern Syria in 2018, Haaretz writes.
