“President Trump has unleashed an escalation of chaos and instability in Syria. His statement on a package of sanctions against Turkey is extremely insufficient to reverse this humanitarian catastrophe, ”Pelosi said in a written statement.

She also blamed the American president for his “unbalanced decisions” that pose a threat to security in the region and undermine US international authority.

According to Pelosi, a resolution has already been submitted to Congress condemning "Trump’s dangerous decision on Syria."

“This week, both parties and both houses of Congress will continue to act against this irresponsible decision,” the speaker emphasized.

Earlier, trump signed a decree on sanctions against Turkey due to the situation in Syria.

Restrictive measures include blocking the ownership of a number of individuals associated with the Turkish government, as well as restricting their entry into the United States.

At the same time, the Treasury Department and the US Department of State are authorized to impose sanctions against other organizations or persons participating in actions in northeast Syria.

The US Treasury has already announced the imposition of sanctions against the Turkish Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Energy and the heads of these departments.
