“Causes of death are established”: suspects in the murder of a woman resident in Yekaterinburg detained

Law enforcement authorities spoke about the investigation into the murder of 27-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg Ksenia Katorgina, who disappeared on October 10 when meeting with the buyer of her car.

That day, having taken leave early from work in the city of Berezovsky located near Yekaterinburg, she went to the regional capital to show a potential buyer her Audi Q5 crossover.

Katorgin, hoping to gain 780 thousand rubles for the car, planned to spend them on a mortgage in Berezovsky. After that, the woman wanted to move there with her 9-year-old daughter, who lives with her grandmother in Kamenetz-Uralsky and whom the deceased visited on weekends.

She went alone to a meeting with the “customer”. Soon Katorgin stopped contacting. After that, relatives contacted the police.

Two days later, a car was found at resellers in a car market in Chelyabinsk. Traces of blood were found in the cabin. The car was purchased for half a million rubles from two men and women who looked like Ksenia, who provided all the necessary documents and the owner’s passport.

The regional administration of the UK instituted criminal proceedings under the article “murder”, and police officers on October 12 established the identities of the alleged criminals.

Nevertheless, the volunteers unsuccessfully searched for Xenia for several more days until on October 15 the police asked them to suspend the search. Soon, near one of the houses in the private sector of the Ordzhonikidze district of Yekaterinburg, not far from the cemetery, investigative actions began with one of the detainees, but law enforcement agencies refused to comment on the situation at that time.

During the day, local journalists completely restored the picture of what happened, in particular, information appeared that three people were suspected of murder, including one woman who had been detained in Chelyabinsk. In the evening there were official reports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee.

According to Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region, operatives of the regional threat, as well as the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, together with colleagues from the Berezovsky and Chelyabinsk regional police departments, detained three natives of the Chelyabinsk region: two men born in 1990 and 1977, as well as a woman in 1988 the year of birth.

“On the evening of October 14, in the city of Kopeisk, police officers first detained the first suspect, he was at that moment moving in a taxi. Two more detectives were detained on the night of October 15 at a rented apartment in Chelyabinsk, ”Gorelykh said. According to him, the motive for the crime was self-interest in order to seize the vehicle, the suspects give confession.

Gorely added that after the murder, Katorgin’s body was dumped in a technical well, where it was discovered on Tuesday.

The representative of the Sverdlovsk State Department of the Ministry of the Interior also named one of the detainees. This is Mikhail Fedorovich, who in 2010 was convicted of robbery and completely served his seven-year sentence.

Moreover, the crime at that time of 19-year-old Fedorovich was very similar to the murder of Katorgin: together with an accomplice, he demanded that the victim give him the car, putting a gun to his head. This time, Fedorovich, apparently, decided not to make previous mistakes, and did not leave the mistress of the car alive.

The name of the second suspect appeared in the media a little earlier. It turned out to be the previously convicted Chelyabinsk taxi driver Marat Akhmetvaliev. The sister of the detainee reported about his involvement in the crime to law enforcement agencies, where she immediately turned as soon as she learned about the detention. The fact is that Akhmetvaliev himself disappeared from the field of view of his sister, wife and children more than a month ago, moreover, along with the car on which he worked.

The identity of the woman detained and her role in the crime are still unknown.

An official statement from the regional department of the RF IC, published on October 15, confirms the detention of two men and a woman.

“In the criminal case, the site of the incident was inspected, during one of which the body of a missing woman was found in a sewer in the Ordzhonikidze district of Yekaterinburg. A set of examinations has been appointed and is being carried out, including the determination of the statute of limitations and the exact cause of death, ”the statement said.

It is noted that in the near future, three detainees are scheduled to be charged. It also checks the possible involvement of suspects in other previously committed crimes, including in other regions of the country.

How exactly the murder happened, law enforcement agencies have not yet reported. It is already known that from the place of meeting Katorgina with the buyer to the place of discovery of her body a little more than three kilometers. Moreover, in the area of ​​the wells where the woman was found, there are no CCTV cameras.
