Activists of the collective #NousToutes gathered Tuesday evening near the Elysee to denounce "the acceleration of feminicides", the number according to them of 121 since the beginning of the year, as much as throughout the year 2018. The last known feminicide, presented by activists as the 121st since January 1, took place in the night of Sunday to Monday in Issoudun (Indre): a 73-year-old man was placed Tuesday in custody after recognizing the murder of his wife.

"We are two and a half months ahead of last year, so there is clearly an acceleration of feminicides," lamented one of the leaders of the #NousToutes collective, Anaïs Leleux. "Macron, wake up, 121 murdered women!" and "not one more!", chanted the twenty demonstrators, tapping on pots when they were gathered, shortly before 22 hours, a few tens of meters from the main entrance of the Elysee Palace. They were firmly repulsed by the police.

"We do not have time to wait"

"We have a lot to do collectively because we see that despite the efforts of successive governments, including ours, for years the number of feminicides does not decline," commented Marlene Schiappa before a Senate committee. According to the Secretary of State for Equality between women and men, which opened in September a "Grenelle of domestic violence", the government will spend next year 361.5 million euros in the fight against this phenomenon.

"We asked for emergency measures but we were answered by a Grenelle, and we do not have time to wait," said Anaïs Leleux.
